Tel:  01379 853211

Salary: L9-L14

Contract: Full time/Permanent

Key Responsibilities: Inclusion and Ethos

Harleston CE Primary Academy are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Deputy Headteacher in order to lead Inclusion and promote our Christian Ethos.

We are on a journey of rapid improvement, rooted in research and are looking for a strong leader to ensure that Inclusion is key within the academy and that all our children are given the opportunities they need to flourish and grow with respect, responsibility and resilience.

We are a forward thinking community, with a drive to improve the education of our children. We want to recruit a person who is passionate about making a positive impact on our children’s lives and want to challenge themselves to keep on improving.

We are looking to employ a Deputy Headteacher who will work well as part of our school team, with supportive colleagues and Governors who ensure that all pupils make progress from Nursery through to Year 6.

The school is part of St Benet’s Multi Academy Trust (under the Diocese of Norwich).

We are looking for someone who:

• Will enable children to flourish both academically and socially

• Is a good or outstanding classroom practitioner with high expectations and a commitment to continuously raise standards

• Has a positive outlook in order to rise to the many challenges teaching presents

• Can inspire children to promote our positive ethos

• Shows initiative, drive and enthusiasm

• Is an excellent team member with a ‘can do’ attitude

• Builds positive relationships with pupils, parents, staff, Governors and the wider community

We offer in return:

• A strong Christian Ethos

• Many opportunities to build on your own knowledge

• A caring community of supportive staff, Governors and Trustees

• A beautiful town setting and inspiring environment

• A forward thinking school

• Large outdoor learning spaces

The successful applicant will start their role in September 2021 as Deputy Headteacher of Harleston Primary Academy, reporting directly to the Headteacher.

The school has a federated Governing Body with the local secondary school, Archbishop Sancroft High School, who with St Benet’s Multi-Academy Trust is currently working hard for us to become an all through school over the next 12-18 months.

The opportunity lies before us to create something very special for the community of Harleston. The journey ahead is not going to be without its challenges as we are looking to build something that many people find hard to imagine. However, for those who have the energy, vision and drive to make it succeed, this will transform the educational provision for many generations to come with the opening of the new all-through school.

When the all-through school opens the intention is that this position becomes Assistant Headteacher (in the Primary Phase), under the line management of the Vice-Principal (Leading the Quality of Education Primary Phase).

This is a real opportunity for staff and the wider community to be part of something new and exciting, but it will need enthusiastic, creative leadership from the existing school leaders. It will allow many of the initiatives and relationships developed through the Trust, including the federated Governing Body, to flourish.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
