We are looking for a dynamic, inspirational and experienced Head of Governance to play a key role in the next phase of our development and lead a new team of two Governance Officers.
Salary: Band E: (£39,657 to £47,161)
We are looking for a governance professional with considerable experience to ensure that the high standards of governance already in place within our Diocesan MATs continue to be strengthened and evolved. Alongside this you will provide advice and guidance to support good governance in the Diocese’s Voluntary Maintained and Controlled schools
Your role will be to provide strategic leadership as well as operational management. You will need to be innovative and creative in developing system-leading governance, whilst also ensuring statutory and regulatory requirements continue to be met. You will need to be knowledgeable on the theory and approach to governance and have experience in implementing systems across all levels of governance within a multi academy trust and maintained schools. You will need to be able to demonstrate a flexible approach and a determination to make a real difference to our Trusts.
Ideally you will have experience of working as a Governance Professional in a MAT. An understanding of church schools would be helpful. People skills are key to this role; you will need to be able to form good relationships with Trustees, Governors, Headteachers and Clerks.
You will be supported in your role by two Governance Officers who have individual responsibility for supporting the Trust Board and local governance within their designated MAT. In addition, you will be responsible for directing the deployment of a small group of local governance improvement associates and self-employed clerks.
We need a committed team player with excellent organisational skills – with the ability to work independently, manage time effectively and prioritise workload with high levels of drive and resilience.
